The Manila Casino Attack Which Killed 37 Innocent People
A shooter stormed a casino in the Philippine capital, indirectly killing 37 people.
The argument in the car
At around 10 p.m. on the evening on June 1st, 2017, a grey BMW car was seen moving at a fast pace along the streets of Paco Manila, The Philippines. Inside the car, three prominent individuals were having a “heated conversation” that “might have involved a lot of money” according to witnesses.
In the drivers seat was Elmer Mitra Jr., a lawyer and an employee at the Philippine National Construction Corporation. In the passenger seat was Alvin Cruzin, formerly with the Manila Police and now a casino financier. In the back seat was Jessie Javier Carlos, a former employee at the department of finance.
The discussion was Mitra and Cruzin against Carlos. He was known to be a compulsive gambler and was dismissed from his finance job after failing to disclose his net worth and assets, a requirement for all employees of the Philippine government to avoid corruption.
Moments later, the discussion turned into an argument and in the back seat, Carlos took out a pistol and carefully pointed it at Mitra’s head. Unaware, Mitra continued to drive.
