This UK Broadcaster Just Told a Black Woman Her Hair Looked Like an Alpaca

And she responded, sharing her experience of a lifetime of racism.

During Thursday morning’s episode of the British daytime talk show ‘This Morning’, presenter Eamonn Holmes got himself into a lot of trouble internationally for telling a black guest that her hair reminded him of an alpaca.

The woman on the receiving end of the controversy was Dr. Zoe Williams, a TV and media personality in the UK who rose to fame after appearing in the television show ‘Gladiators’. She is a regular guest on This Morning and frequently features in health and wellbeing segments, taking calls from viewers and offering advice on how to fix their medical problems.

The comment occurred just after Williams had introduced her segment for Thursday morning, saying,

“I’ll be telling you all about how your health can be benefitted from gardening and even alpacas.”

In response, Northern Irish presenter Eamonn Holmes quipped,

“Oh aplacas…your hair reminds me of an alpaca today, so it does! You just want to pet it, don’t you? Very alpaca-ish.”

Williams appeared to take the comment lightheartedly, laughing it off and saying, “Don’t touch my hair!” while…
